Funny thing is, I wouldn’t believe that Barricade was an actual police cruiser because none of the cops have Mustangs in actual service outside of promotional purposes. And they most certainly do not have a 2018 Mustang.

We got a prototype Ford Mustang 5.0 GT that was on trial around the U.K. (nobody liked it at all).

The battenburg liveried car is a prototype for show use that will go to the crusher, the black one is the 5.0 V8 GT doing the rounds of the police forces.

The Focus RS however is getting a lot more favourable response from the police forces.

I guess the Focus is what the transformer would be if it was European.

I had two main reasons for watching it- the cars, and the Silverdome. Fun fact: not sure about the middle pic, but those other two were definitely taken at Michigan Motion Picture Studios, just a couple miles down the road from the ’Dome. I used to drive by there all the time, catching glimpses through the trees of large green screens set up in the back lot. Never saw much else, though. Now the’Dome has been demolished, and the studios shut down. sadface.jpg

When you don’t have as many long highway sections, a RWD pony car with two doors makes far less sense than an AWD hot hatch with plenty of power and an actual rear passenger section to stick perps in without having to expose the driver.

We have long highway sections maintained by RPUs (road policing units) which are mostly patrolled by BMW 3 and 5 Series estates, as they need to be fast and responsive but also carry a lot of equipment. There are also BMW X5s in many areas too.

Top is a general RPU, bottom is the equipment in a BMW X5.
